A proposed addition for automated mobile platforms
OSHA’s September 29, 2026 notice presents a preliminary finding to grant Intertek Testing Services NA, Inc.’s application to add one standard to its Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) scope: UL 3100, ANSI/CAN/UL Automated Mobile Platforms. Comments are due October 14, 2026.
The notice is FR Doc. 2026-19833, under Docket OSHA-2007-0039. Its list does not include ANSI/AAMI ES60601-1 or IEC 61010-2-101. It therefore provides no basis for concluding that this application adds medical electrical or in vitro diagnostic equipment testing capability.
OSHA expressly states that its preliminary finding does not constitute interim or temporary approval. A final decision will follow the public-comment process.
Checks for testing plans
- For hospital logistics robots or other mobile platforms, confirm whether UL 3100 applies to the product and verify the laboratory’s recognized sites, standards and available services.
- For medical electrical and IVD equipment, check the existing recognition scope and applicable standard editions separately. This notice does not establish Canadian recognition or medical-device marketing authorization.
- Treat potential scheduling benefits as a supplier-planning question. Confirm final recognition, site capability and actual capacity before changing a testing plan.
Teams developing hospital robots can prepare a product-to-standard assessment now and revisit laboratory selection once OSHA publishes its final decision.
